KXLF: Welch announces run for Superintendent of Public Instruction

on 13 November 2011.

Welch says the federal No Child Left Behind program was a good start to monitoring student achievement, but she feels others measures need to be added into the mix. "When I talk to administrators from around the state, I hear their frustration. OPI has unreasonable mandates and repeated demands that keep them from focusing on the education of our students," Welch said.

Welch is challenging Democrat incumbent Denise Juneau for the position.
